Looking for dinner recos for tonight. We will be meeting friends whoa re driving in through the snow, they are staying near 7th Ave/ 20th St. We can take subway but trying to make it walkable for them. They are foodies from California, they love interesting cuisine, relaxed atmosphere and famous chefs but don't want to spend too much and definitely not a formal atmosphere. Maybe spend $125/couple. Also trying to avoid Italian, as one person is on a very low-carb diet plan. I thought maybe Craftbar or Crispo but nothing seems quite right...

How about some terrific Spanish tapas?
Boqueria, Tia Pol and Txikito (my current favorite) are all in Chelsea.

Seconded, and Txikito is also my favorite. El Quinto Pino (sister restaurant) is also nearby.

Thanks! We actually took one of them to Boqueria on her last visit so these suggestions are right on track. Appreciate it.

There is Spice Market just a few blocks south in the meatpacking district. Its a jean-george owned restaurant if I remember correctly.
