Willy's BBQ and Grill in Agoura

Has anyone been to Willy's BBQ in Agoura? Just found out about it and am wondering if anyone can tell me about it.

  1. Not good, poor rendition of smoked ribs.

    1. I liked Willy's. I had the beef brisket and it was much better than Wood Ranch BBQ nearby. It is more of a Texas style BBQ: sliced beef piled on a plate with some good sauce.

One of the best in the LA area. Long smoke time.

Are you sure they undergo a long smoke time????

The one and only time I was there, ribs I ordered had negligible smoke ring compared to my own 4-5hrs smoked ribs. Frankly I was wondering if they even smoked the rack.....

The big rectangular grill they have outside is a giveaway, they do not smoke their meats. High heat over wood charcoal, is what Willy's does.

Their menu does say they smoke their pork (for their pulled pork) 20 hours in their own smoker (according to their website).

ADD: Looked at some of their other BBQ items and many of them note smoking for 14 or 15 hours (or it says "smoked overnight").

        2. Right down the street from my office and "fair to Midland" as they say. Certainly not the best, but I have had far worse too. There is much better Texas style cue to be had. Bludso's comes to mind. Also, and this is a pet peeve of mine, I don't like room temperature BBQ sauce on the table, I like mine hot (temperature). On that note, another thing to consider about Willy's is that if you have 4 types of sauce available, your cue must not be too good.
