Soup and Sandwiches in San Antonio??

What are some delicious soup and sandwich places in San Antonio?? I don't want a chain restaurant. We live on the North Side but could travel for something super. Thanks for your opinions.

Pam's Patio Kitchen (Wurzbach/Lockhill Selma) is our favorite.

I drive by this place EVERYDAY to go to work and even had a friend that cooked here and I've never gone in- sounds like I better stop by next time.

Not really gourmet but Schilo's has fantastic green pea soup and decent sandwiches.

Try Quicksands on Embassy (near 281 and Bitters)--homemade bread, soup, gorgeous salads. The place is a little dumpy, but the food is good. Also, have you tried Joseph's Storehouse on N. St. Mary's? (It's on the East side of 281) Also kind of dumpy, it's between two colleges, but great homemade bread, desserts, salads, main dishes. Energetic staff, busy at lunch time. And don't forget the Cove, near SAC. It features gourmet sandwiches (even lamb burgers) and beers from around the world.

Embassy is really close to me but I've never noticed this place. Definitely going to check it out soon. Thanks for the other suggestions too- the only place that anyone recommended when I asked around at work was Quizno's.... not what I had in mind. I am definitely okay with a dumpy restaurant if the food is good. I've also been interested to check out to Cove- don't the use organic ingredients?
