ISO Deep Fried Apple Pie (a la McDonald's circa 1980s)

McDonald's used to serve deep fried apple pies before they switched to the baked versions that we see in most locations today. But, I've heard rumblings about a few McDonald's locations and other companies that still carry them (i.e. A&W, Walmart, Popeye's (?)). Does anyone know if I can find one around LA? If there's a location relatively close to W. LA, then that'd be even better!

  1. you could go to aframe, it's not fast food, and it's sit-down, but they serve a fried apple pie, that tastes like McD's sent to heaven, although there is also a ball of southern comfort cheddar ice cream on top to gild the lilly, but i guess you can get it without that accoutrement.

forgot to say, they are exactly like the ones from McD's from years back. so good.

    2. the McD's in the Fox Hills Mall in Culver City apparently still serves them.

hmm, it must have closed - used to be one there.

      1. Luna Park has deep fried apple pies.

        1. go to KFC they have them, that is the only thing i eat from there. I use to have to leave the country to get these deep fried apple pie, (they still had them until a couple years ago.)
go run to KFC. the only one that i know that does not carry them anymore is the one on pico in santa monica near SMC. but otherwise, i've had luck with the other KFC.

          1. Does anyone know any place that does a deep fried _cherry_ pie like McD's used to do?
