Wafa's to Close

Hello All,

My partner and I just went to Wafa's and learned that Wafa will be closing down at the end of this month. The space will then be taken over by different proprietors serving Syrian food.

We will greatly miss Wafa, her son, and that wonderful little place with the magical Lebanese food we love so much but hope that she will be able to return soon.

Wafa noted that she may return though it would need to be in a larger space with more ample cooking facilities. Perhaps directly on Metropolitan Avenue? That would be grand.

The last day will be Friday, December 31, 2010. So, if you want have Wafa's food, you'd better hurry.

Such a bummer. I ate there about once a week, haven't gone in three weeks with the holidays and snow, so bummed. Best falafel in NY hands down. I hope Wafa opens another restaurant.

Sad times indeed. We picked up a mess of spinach and cheese pies and froze them. They are big-time popular with the toddler in the house. Wafa's will be missed muchly.

Apparently another Middle Eastern place is going to take the space...I heard Syrian. I'll miss Wafa no matter.

Hello All,

One last reminder, today is Wafa's last day. This may be the last time you have the opportunity to have Wafa's wonderful food for who knows how long.

I don't know about you, but I plan to stock up and enjoy for the next few days. Days-old Wafa's still beats the heck out of a lot of stuff out there.

Just returned from Wafa's, better hurry if you want food because it's selling out quickly! The regulars have turned out to say goodbye and show our support.

So very sorry to hear this. I haven't made it over to Metropolitan Avenue in a while. When I was last at Wafa's she mentioned to me that she was taking over a larger space around the corner. I guess that deal fell through? I'd love to see Wafa move closer to Queens Blvd. Rents are higher for sure, but LOTS of foot traffic and take-out only would be more than fine for quality cooking like Wafa's!!!

Sad news. I'll miss their falafel as a lunchtime option. Space was ridiculously small.
