Romantic Dinner - - Staying at the Sheraton on Queen St
In town on Monday for some shopping and dinner - - - We are staying at the Sheraton and looking for something tasty and cozy. Price is not an issue. Would prefer a Toronto staple - - - something that doesn't disappoint. We eat anything and would love something Asian or French or high end italian. All suggestions are welcome - - we don't mind cabbing around town. We are not looking to reach deep into the chowhounders suggestions. "Herb air" is generally a turn off. We don't need to try that hard. Thanks gang.

Torito in Kensington on Augusta just south of College is quite lovely. Dark and tapas for sharing.

Has anyone been to Carisma? I think there were generally good review there. That looks pretty nice. Not far from the Sheraton. (Italian)
There's also Splendido which is a short cab-ride away. (French/Continental)
Asian and nearby would be either Lai Wah Heen or Crown Princess. I would deem neither cozy.

We visited Lai Wah Heen earlier this year and loved the food, but the atmosphere was a bit too boring for a night away from the kids. I really like the look of Le Select. Thanks gang - - - Chowhound rules!

Been to Carisma recently. I was underwhelmed and it was one of the more expensive meals I have had which is ironic given the review I read about it in the Globe.
The owner is very nice but I would not consider it a neighbourhood resto (unless your neighbourhood is Rosedale). I will try again since it is very close to me.

Maybe Mistura for high-end Italian, although I'm not positive whether it's open on Monday. It is a reasonable cab ride from your hotel. I also like L'Unita and Tutti Matti (the second is a reasonable walk from your hotel, but it gets mixed reviews around here).
For French I like Le Select, but it's a neighbourhood bistro-y spot and perhaps not as occasion-worthy as you might like. I do think it's romantic (ask for a booth). Le Select is also a short cab ride or a 15-20 minute walk from the Sheraton. I would describe it as both tasty and cozy. I love drinking champers at the zinc bar to start.
And what do you mean by "herb air"... I'm guessing that you're talking about those newfangled hipster outposts, non?

re: Rabbit
Thank you for the suggestions. We hit Mistura last year at this time and enjoyed. I will look into your other thoughts. By Herb Air I do mean the newfangled hipster outposts. I often enjoy chefs who push the molecular gastronomy, but just not in the mood to try that hard.
