Many thanks to all for the lively discussions, breaking restaurant news and wonderful advice provided by this board. We may not always agree, but I think we all eat very well.

To a wonderful new year of wining and dining!

Merry Christmas to all. Christmas morning. In an hour a neighbor is coming for Christmas breakfast. The table is set with the good stuff. Ingredients are laid out for an omelet with green peppers, a little onion, slabs of tomato, and Cheddar cheese (she is vegetarian) and there's a bottle of Chipotle Tabasco handy. Right now wedges of Idaho potato are in the oven, dipped in butter and drizzled with Kosher salt, smoked Spanish paprika, and bread crumbs. I have biscuits on the pan ready to go into the oven and sour cherry jam on the table. The pot is heating and ready for tea. And for a fruit salad I have apple, grapefruit, papaya, honeydew, watermelon, kiwi, grapes, and strawberries. How lucky we cooking people are to live in a time and place where a variety of food is always available.

Three years later and I'm still very grateful to everybody on this board.
      Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you as well! I love Chowhound for helping me sort through all the dining options in unfamiliar places. I have found wonderful spots that I never would've discovered on my own. Yup, we don't always agree, but the conversations are usually friendly and productive. I just go with majority opinion if there are disagreements! :)
