Please Help Me show them the light!

Will be in Jay Peak Vermont (I'm from NYC) next week and will be making a day trip to Montreal for some delicious food. Please give me some recommendations on what best captures Montreal and all the deliciousness it has to offer. I have been trying to get my friends to come with me to Montreal but they are being stubborn. If I can't get them to come willingly, maybe I can convince their bellies to see the light. I'll be alone, as usual, and need to get some things that will hopefully make them change their minds about coming with me when the weather turns a bit. I love Montreal any time of year but I think I should ease them into the experience. Two things that I know I'll be bringing back are bagels and smoked meat and would love to get some recommendations. Please help me!! Tired of exploring Canada Friendless!! LOL Happy Holidays

Or try another tact - invite them here for Jazz Fest in the summer (not a whole lot of jazz, but all kinds of music, both free and ticketed events) and shanghai them for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
      Or F1 Grand Prix.
      Or NASCAR.

Have you been to Jean-Talon Market? I live near there. Lots of existing threads with recommendations - great Québec cheeses, sausages from les îles-de-la-Madeleine (Magdalen Islands) etc.

You can also find smoked poultry at the smoked meat places.

I have friends from NYC who love visiting up here - you just have to give them a boost. At Jay Peak, you are most of the way here.
