Not sure what price/atmosphere you're looking for, but I had a very satisfying lunch at Falafel Plus on 8th Ave. at Cambie today. It's kosher vegetarian, and I enjoyed all the different salads that were served with my falafel platter ($9.99 for 4 falafel, a plateload of salads, and pita bread). Closed Saturdays.

My wife is veggie as is her whole family. Never eaten meat. Sam's recommendation of Saravana Bhavan is a great one, good food on the light side, not bad prices. They have a good buffet on the weekends for a reasonable price. If you go when the buffet isn't on, get "The Special Meal" for $10 which has about 10 little portions of things on it and is a lot of food. She says Nuba's is really good but expensive if you want to get full.

The favorite though would have to be "The Naam" http://www.thenaam.com/naam/ for out of towners. It's a unique dining experience. Open 24 hours. Lines out the door during peak times. The place isn't cheap, but it's worth it. The Miso Gravy is good. The burgers are good. Everything there is vegetarian.

If you can only go to one veggie place in vancouver, go to the Naam -- it's a tradition.

If you want to go outside the city a bit, All India Sweets has a veggie buffet for a good price as well. It's far to get to and is around $10.

Bandidas on Commercial near 12th on the south end is also good. Radha Yoga and Eatery on Main between Union and Keefer is clean healthy vegetarian food. http://www.radhavancouver.org/vegan_e... Dinner only there, 6-10. Not cheap though.

Gorilla Food near Gastown is great for organic raw food. They have wraps, soups, salads, sandwiches and pizza. Great stop if you are in the touristy area of vancouver.
