Potentially idiotic question re ham half

Just opened one up to bring to temp before baking -- what is the plastic disc stuck in the bone --- do I remove or cook with it in?

      the disk is there to prevent the bone from puncturing the outer wrapping. as fourunder said, remove it.

        There ain't no idiotic questions on this board. When someone doesn't know the answer and forges ahead without taking the time to ask questions - now that's idiotic.

          I did remove it -- and it came out perfectly. Used NYT's recipe for Monte's Ham -- works every time!
