ideas for appetizer using leftover smoked ham?
I have a bunch of leftover smoked ham, and need to bring an appetizer/snack for Christmas dinner. (It's going to be an informal spread of light dishes and finger foods) Any ideas?
Potted ham aka deviled ham is very good and easy to make. The old recipes call for mustard, cayenne and ground mace, no mayo, then ground and baked. Delicious on crackers or in celery. I have also mashed the deviled ham w/cooked egg yolks and a bit of mayo, then spooned into the egg white for deviled ham and eggs.
How about chopping up the ham in a food processor and making a tasty ham salad. Spoon it in to homemade mini cream puff shells, or purchased filo cups.
i"m gonna vary from everyone else. I say layer slices of ham with swiss cheese and thousand island dressing on spring roll wrappers. Roll them up and bake!
