'Down Home Style" Seafood/Oysters Restaurant

Will be arriving for the month of January in Aventura, any suggestions in the vicinity ('tho we will have a car)....love clam chowder, oysters, peel n' eat shrimp etc. Looking for a 'local' hangout not fine dining. Thanks in advance..........

Tarks, in Dania, is 'local' to Aventura. They've got amazingly fresh fish (mahi, grouper) fried, grilled, or blackened; fried clams (whole and bellies); great clam chowder (NE and NY); raw or steamed clams and oysters, shucked right in front of you; steamed shrimp, sauced with Old Bay, garlic butter, or BBQ. I can't leave without an order of the buffalo shrimp.

Plus, the place is so small, you're certain to make a friend just an elbow bump away.

I love " Whales Rib" in Deerfield....great oysters, but be sure to try the rock shrimp.It was a Guy Fieri's stop on Diners, Drive ins, and dives
