We will be staying in Escondido (Lawrence Welk) for a week starting xmas day. Is there anywhere good to take the kids (ages 4 & 2) that we don't have to drive more than 15 mins? Open to all kinds of food. Thanks!

Champions on Grad is an old fashioned diner open for breakfast and lunch. Heavy, old-fashioned food but would be a great place for kids to sit in a booth and have a milkshake. Closes at 2 sharp and locks the doors so go early--it opens at 6am

Not much out there. I don't know how kid friendly Hacienda de Vega is. Its upscale Mexican with a nice patio if the weather clears.

We always enjoy Hacienda de Vega and have seen children there and they love the big waterfall and being outside..thank goodness they have heaters.
The food is really good and so are the aquarium size margs.
Stone Brewery is cool and hopefully the foods gotten better but the beer is excellent.
Hit up Nessy Burger in Fallbrook off the 15 & 76 next to the Mobil station...excellent burgers!
