There is also Latinos y Mas, which is right across the street from Ipanema. Excellent spanish style food and there is some mexican on the back of the menue too. It is one of the best restaurants in Ocala. For mexican I'm not a fan of El Toreo but El Azteca (formerly El Taxco before they moved into their own stand alone building) is quite good.
The best barbeque in Gainesville is at Dave's BBQ off exit 390 a few miles. Also Backyard BBQ in Newberry florida is good.
There is a brazilian steak house in Ocala called Ipanema which is is supposed to be very good. I believe it is all you care to eat and therefore not cheap.
The chop house for steaks right at exit 390 in Gville is a top place.
Cuban in Gville is at La Fortuna, according to several cubans I know, that is there favorite.
Mexican at Mexico Lindo at Archer Rd. and Tower Rd. in Gainesville is the best currently.
I know you said Ocala but Gville is close.

I'd suggest trying Primary Oven downtown, or perhaps Filet and Fin. I haven't tried Filet and Fin yet, but ate at Chef Daniel's previous restaurant downtown and had a very lovely meal. I have high hopes for his new restaurant being up to the same or even better standards.
Up 441 there is Tommy's BBQ, but I've only had breakfast there (decent enough) so I can't vouch for their actual BBQ.

Check out the Mojo Grill. You will not be disappointed. The wings are fantastic (get them "Rondo style" -- a mix of hot buffalo and mojo sauces). The Cuban sandwich is out of this world. When I'm up that way, I will actually alter my itinerary just to eat there.

Oh, boy...I hope you like chains. I lived there a few years ago and the food scene (or lack thereof) nearly drove me insane. There used to be a few better-than-average spots (Felix's, Bella Luna), but I hear the recession did them in. Harry's Seafood Bar & Grille is a small Florida chain and it's not bad for New Orleans style cuisine. Decent ambience and cute location on the Ocala town square, as well.
There's a Mexican restaurant that we liked pretty well called El Toreo (two locations). Nothing to get terribly excited over, but consistently tasty fare at a reasonable price with good service (and giant margaritas).
If you get desperate, Orlando's not really that far. ;)
