Favorite Steakhouse in NYC

Other than the venerable Lugars - what would you say is the best steakhouse in NYC? I'm partial to Dylan Prime, but going out next week with some friends and thought we might branch out. I've never been to Old Homestead (ashamed to admit it's true), but have heard recently it may have gone downhill?

Doesn't have to be traditional NY Steakhouse either, on my list is an Argentinian steakhouse in the east village, Buenos Aires. If you haven't been there - go. It's fantastic.

What's your favorite steak in NYC?

  1. For under-rated and non-traditional steakhouses, I go with either Strip House or Del Frisco's. Strip House is great for a date or small group, Del Frisco's for a big group. If you like the traditional male dominated expense account fueled crowd, Sparks is my go to for that.

    1. Well hashed subject for this board. Here are eight fairly recent threads:

agree on Homestead.....Keens or Porter House good options, but Luger still rules.

I'll disagree on The Old Homestead......I go twice a year, for past few years, for the:

THE GOTHAM RIB STEAK ON THE BONE 32 OZ
THE EMPIRE CUT OF PRIME RIB ON THE BONE

            Both have always been excellent.

I agree - Old Homestead never lives up to its reputation, not for a long time.

              Lugers, Keens, Wolfgang's, Strip House.....

            2. We had an awesome steak at Uncle Jack's a couple of weeks ago.

              1. Old Homestead has always been excellent in our experience.
