Chinese Wedding Banquet Restaurant in Vancouver/Richmond

I'm coming up from Seattle and want to know what are the top recommendations for holding a chinese wedding banquet in Richmond/Vancouver area. Looking for a place that can accomodate 300-400 guests. I have been to a wedding at the Richmond Kirin and really liked it. We are looking for something along those lines. Are there any other places in the Richmond or Vancouver area that we should consider?

After my trip to Vancouer this weekend we have narrowed the restaurant choices to Kirin Richmond, Shiang Garden and Fisherman's Terrace. For everyone's curiosity here are the capacities of the restaurants:

South Ocean (Garden City @ Alderbridge) is well known to accommodate large wedding banquets of 300+.

Sorry LR, I wouldnt recommend South Ocean for a wedding banquet. Its kinda low-end restaurant. Their dimsum is good though and cheap.

I think Kirin would be your best bet for 400. But you may ask Red Star, Sun Sui Wah, and Jade Seafood (whose chef, Tony Luk, just won Chinese Chef of the Year), if they can accommodate you.

Red Star would be the Richmond one, the Granville location is too small. Sun Sui Wah would be Main Street as Richmond is too small.

We've always done our family wedding banquets at that one under the Hyatt, name eludes me right now but might be too small for 400.

That's Victoria Chinese under the Hyatt. I might be a tad small.

I've been to two wedding banquets at the Vancouver Kirin. Dunno about the headcounts, but there must have been at least 20 tables (12 per table) as each banquet booked the entire restaurant. But that may not be enough capacity for your 300-400 guests.

I've been pretty disappointed by the food at Victoria (under the Hyatt) lately.

Kirin has great food but not sure about their capacity. The Starlight Casino and City Square Mall ones seems to be the biggest.

A friend of mine also had a wedding banquet at Shiang Garden in Richmond. The sharks' fin soup (if you're into that) was incredible as they keep it together as one piece instead of pulling apart the strands.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I will be coming up later this week so I'll check out Red Star, Jade and Shiang Garden in Richmond. I'm not too fond of the Sun Sui Wah location in Vancouver. I've been there for dim sum before.

Holly - there's also the Imperial Chinese Restaurant in downtown close to the waterfront. Good room, good service, good views, but quite $$$:

Again, I dunno anything about them being able to accommodate 300-400 !
