Gourmet Kingdom open over the holidays? (Carrboro, NC)

LulusMom Dec 21, 2010 03:38 PM

Has anyone verified that Gourmet Kingdom will be open over the holidays? Not just Christmas, but the week following? We've got friends interested in checking the place out, and just want to be sure. Anyone know about Merlion, just in case?

A friend of mine was there yesterday for a meal so I'd say yes. Maybe not New Years eve and day though.

Western New Year's isn't Chinese New Years; bet they're open. Was just there & had great shrimp lo mein and ma po tofu! (mm custardy and home-made)

I had lunch at GK today (delightful as always) and the woman at the register said they would be open on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. We did not discuss Chinese New Year's at this juncture.

Thank you so much! Merlion will also be open New Year's day (at least for dinner).

FYI; Chinese New Years at GK should be great. Any hounds interested?
Chinese restaurants usually stay open as this is the big holiday & people go out to celebrate.

Do you know the date? If we're in town, I know Lulu and I would love to come along.

Year of the Rabbit begins on February 3 (a Thursday.) Probably need to make reservations soon, last year I remember seeing teeming crowds at Jade Palace for New years. (Not that we ate there)

Teaming crowds at Merlion too - they do a whole dragon dance thing.

Unfortunately we'll be away on Feb. 3rd. Darnit.
