Jackson, WY --- Going Skiing (suprise) ----need list of good eateries ...PLEASE

  • 6

Heading to JH w/ wife and ravenous teenaged boys who are adventurous eaters. (Anything from goat cheese salad to cheese steaks to elk steaks) I had success 2 years ago asking same question about Telluride, so here goes same for JH. Looking for good quality versions of any type of cuisine. Italian, Thai, Barbecue, Continental, Mexican, whatever..... just want some down home non commercial food.. I have had many a bad meal over the years in ski towns out west,m and quite a few good ones as well. Unfortunately, I find that the good meals come about 25% of the time. The only constant is inflated ski season prices (:)).

  1. Back Country has good casual comfort food. Betty Rock is a good casual cafe. Mountain High has good pizza and Rendezvous is good too.

I agree with Littleman's choices for more casual food. I will say that Backcountry Provisions just has sandwiches - it's a deli. I love it, but it's not a restaurant and I wouldn't have described it as comfort food.

Another not-so-expensive option, but that gives you a sit-down restaurant, is Cafe Genevieve. Definitely a comfort food place, in the cabin where Jedediah's used to be.

If you want any higher-end places, I'll suggest my usuals:
Snake River Grill, Koshu, Blu, Wild Sage at the Rusty Parrot Lodge, Osteria, Westbank Grill at Four Seasons

        Have a good trip!

Unfortunately, Stiegler's closed earlier this year...sad to see an institution gone.

        2. Here's a great Italian place - reasonably priced - great food, where locals tend to gather. It's on the way to Teton Village.
