Plano/North Dallas Dive Bars

Are there any dive bars worth checking out in North Dallas/Plano/Carrollton/Frisco areas? I lived in Lakewood until I got married and moved north and miss the Landing, the Cock & Bull, Ships, Double Wide, etc. –type bars.

Thanks!

  1. Maybe not exactly in your area, but check out Addison Point on Belt Line. Pretty divey and they have great burgers.

    1. I go to a very divey dive called Step Up Lounge at Marsh and Walnut Hill. I am in good company as the weekends are packed. there is a bar next door that just opened called the Velvet Elvis. Tuesdays is buck drinks unti 9pm. The mix of people at both of these borders on extreme and all are welcome.

Addison Point is very blue haired, as are most the Points.

A wee bit out of that area near Inwood and Maple is a very good dive bar that features not-so-divey cocktails called the Windmill.

      1. Although not in the class of a Ships or The Dallasite, you might try Vernon's Grille in Addison.

The farther you go north from downtown Dallas, the less likely you'll find a dive bar.

Vernon's is a good call and a hangout for many in the bar and restaurant biz.

        2. And a short drive south is The Loon on Lemmon Westbound in the West Village area and Louie's on Henderson Avenue.

          1. I'm a fan of The Draft House, it's in the Midway and GB area.

You want a dive that is very Ships like, here you go. It is also in the Midway and GB area. They pour very heavy.
