What's your favorite kind of potato chips?

Ok, I don't really care what your favorite kind of potato chips is.
I just wanted an excuse to post photos of these weird flavors!

But please feel free to share other examples of chips exotica, loved or despised!

On the left, grilled shrimp Pringles.
On the right, seaweed Pringles.

  1. These eel-seaweed chips were good, but didn't have as much eel flavor as I would have liked.

    1. Now this has got to be one of the weirdest I've seen:

      blueberry-hazelnut Pringles

I've been in Asia long enough that seaweed and shrimp seem like totally normal chip flavours now.

My favourite, by far, is salt and vinegar, which unfortunately can only be purchased at the expensive imported food shop. I'm fond of the lime ones I could get in SoCal, too.

I'm not a huge fan of most of the trendy flavours you see. I find they come in about three different tastes - spicy/cheesy/tomatoey, meaty and seafoody, so the grilled ribs, fajita platter, roasted chicken, and American hamburger all taste meaty, while the taco explosion, mala pork, nacho cheesier and spicy Mexican are all about the same, too.

I did really like the sour cream and sesame Doritos that were out a few years ago, but they don't seem to sell them any more.

          American hamburger-flavored potato chips?
I'd be shocked, except that when I was in last in France, I noticed a lot of steak-flavored potato chips in the supermarkets.

          1. re: racer x

i've had steak chips, in Pennsylvania, years ago.... it was like eating cold steak - had a layer of beefy fat on my tongue afterwards! they were good. and i think they were Lays or Wise.

      2. My new favorite (hard to find in certain parts of New England, USA) is: Humpty Dumpty "All Dressed" Chips. In the US we don't have too many odd flavors. We've got salt and vinegar, BBQ, cheese....but these All Dressed ones are either out of Canada or Maine and they're sort of every possible flavor on one chip.

        1. Lay's Kettle Cooked Jalapeno

          Great with my sammiches.

Lay's Kettle Jalapeno chips kick some serious ass and I love them inside my sandwiches too!

          2. For me, it's Tim's Wasabi Chips. Tasty!

            1. Why do I think if I saw the grilled shrimp pringles, I'd eat the whole container in about five seconds. Sounds yummy!

              1. Walkers Crisps:
English Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding
                Cheese and Onion
                Sea Salt

                1. Dirty Chips Cracked Pepper and Sea Salt and Dirty Chips Vinegar and Sea Salt!

                  1. Ketchup all the way. Second (hubby's fav. at this time) is Dorrito's sweet chili heat.

Route 11 Mama Zumas Revenge. I like spicy, and these suckers are spicy in addition to being a very good potato chip.

These, and Gibbles from PA. Because Lard is Love.

                      1. Tims Cascade JalapeƱo chips with cottage cheese dip!

                                  1. Back in the 60's we could get ketchup flavored potatoe chips
but now I have to go to Canada to get them.

My favorite in the lower 56 is Sea Salt and vinegar.

Also fond of these chips I used to buy in NYC that were fried in lard. The name escapes me.

Exactly; or Canada where I live. Am getting hungry...

                                      2. Kettle -- Sea Salt and Vinegar.

                                        1. Lays Kettle Cooked original
                                          Cape Cod Original Potato Chips

                                          1. These "smoky bbq" Pringles did not taste smoky or like bbq.
                                            Not recommended.

                                            1. I haven't seen these bbq-flavored Doritos in the US. I do remember some bbq-cheddar Doritos a few years back (that were delicious) that didn't last long in any of the stores I have frequented.

                                              Not too bad.

                                              1. I discovered feta and avacado Pringles in Rome. Sadly, I have never found them anywhere else.

Mmm. That sounds like it might be pretty tasty.
I suppose you could cheat and just have regular chips along with some homemade feta/avocado dip.

                                                2. Utz "Crab" chips. Pretty sure they just have Old Bay sprinkled on 'em. I ate an entire bag in Ocean City once, thanks to a filthy hangover. They've made their way to New England recently, so I can get my fix much easier now.

                                                  1. I just discovered a new best friend this weekend.

                                                    Pringles cheddar

Enough salt to kill a herd of horses.
And loaded with msg (at least it tastes like it -- didn't look at the label).

                                                    1. Utz Old Bay Crab chips. It's a Baltimore thing.

Oh, those bad boys have made their way up to New England.

                                                      2. Since we moved from MA to Arizona, I missed my Cape Cod Potato Chips. That is, until a Twitter friend introduced me to Poore Brothers kettle chips. I am addicted to the Three Cheese Jalapeno with parmesan, cheddar and romano, and the Mole. I'll have to try the new Habanero next.
