New Year's & Anniversary dinner in Sausalito?

  • 8

My husband & I will be celebrating a 30 year anniversary this New Year's Eve. We'll be staying at the Inn Above Tide in Sausalito for 2 nights, and are unfamiliar with dining destinations in that area. Suggestions? Especially for dinner. Thanks!

  1. I'd vote for Poggio. Good food, romantic atmosphere, and easy walking distance from your hotel. Happy anniversary!

Second on Poggio. Great bar, too.

    2. I would also throw into the mix Sushi Ran (great sushi and also walkable from your hotel) and the restaurant at Cavallo Point (which also has a great, cozy bar with a fireplace next door).

      1. We like Scoma's, especially the back room. Great view on clear days...short walk from the Inn.

        1. Thank you for the suggestions - we have a reservation at Poggio for New Year's Eve and will check out the other options mentioned over the rest of the trip. Thanks Chowhound!

Please report back on all your findings -- wishing you both a great time celebrating your anniversary and new year!

          2. Le Garage is my current favorite restaurant in Marin county. It's a French bistro in a casual, waterfront, non-touristy setting with great food at very fair prices.

LeGarage for an excellent lunch with a bowl of mussels & Bouillabaisse.
New Year's Eve dinner at Poggio was just the ticket - thank you for the suggestion. We kicked things off with the house made burrata with a sun dried tomato puree and grilled bread. We could have made of night of it with this first course alone. By the time we got to dessert, it arrived candle-lit and on the house with a "happy anniversary." A memorable evening all around, thanks to your suggestions.
