Crab Dip (split from General Topics board)

of course.

1 stick unsalted butter
1/2 small onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, finely grated
1 # fresh crab meat (i like to mix backfin and lump)
8 oz cream cheese
salt, pepper to taste
optional: parmesan cheese, parsley

sweat onions and garlic in butter until translucent and soft
add crab meat and cream cheese. soften cream cheese to make this process go faster.
add your salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese if desired. fresh parsley is nice for color as well.

You can also top with cheddar, or a shredded cheese blend and broil it for a nice crust on top. serve with slices of good baguette.
