restaurants near Montparnasse with kids?

We're stuck in Paris for 4 days because of the snow. Any suggestions for restaurants near Montparnasse that would work with two small but well-behaved kids (ages 1 and 5)? We went to La Creperie de Josselin last night and it was great. We're near metros Vavin, Raspail, and Edgar Quinet.

  1. La Rotonde of course, the creperies you already spotted (Josselin is good but so are the others -- Saint-Malo, Bigoudenne, etc.), the crepe stand called Genia on bd Montparnasse (it's yellow) if you feel like a lot of cheap food. Also on bd Montparnasse et also if you feel like a lot of food, Padova (further towards Port-Royal) has the biggest plates of pasta and the thickest-bread-like pizza you'll ever see. Bd du Montparnasse always, but west of Montparnasse, is Sud Ouest and Cie, also kid friendly, for foie gras and confit de canard and good value. Don't miss Des Gateaux et du Pain, one of the best pastry shops in town, on bd Pasteur, and eat your pastries on the little park on top of the station. The playground in the Luxembourg garden is awesome, but there is a toll (and a coffee stand). There is also another top pastry nearby: Christian Constant at the corner of Assas and Fleurus. You can also cross the Montparnasse cemetery to go Chez Papa, for family style generous Southwest cooking.

I don't know about your kids, but mine love the natural history museum (there are actually three museums: the one with the skelettons, the galerie de l'évolution with all the stuffed animals, and the little zoo. Not to mention, a lovely park -- le Jardin des Plantes).

This is a sweet and thought-full response.

That he is. Do the kids, well the 5yo, do seafood, if so the Bistro du Dome is fun. Vavin.

Thank you for this kind reply! Just the kind of information I needed. Sounds like we will eat well -- and will take your tip about the natural history museum, too. Thanks!

Is the creperie Genia closed on certain day(s) of the week?

I have read good things about this creperie on multiple threads, but I haven't been able to find what days/times they are open. (Haven't been able to find that info elsewhere on the web either.)

          Thanks in advance!
