christmas day breakfast

Coming to NYC for Christmas weekend and staying in mid town. Any suggestions for breakfast places that will be open? I prefer to avoid hotels. Thanks

  1. If you are looking for a good hearty breakfast but not fancy try Scotty's Diner on Lexington bet 39 and 40.

    1. Our concierge recommended The Brooklyn Diner for breakfast on Christmas Day. Menu looks great!

I can't stand that kitschy Brooklyn Diner, but out of towners seem to love it.

I've been there a few times with the "out of town" friends. It's kind of corny but the food is decent. Probably a great choice if you want something a bit upscale from Scotty's basic diner fare.

Scotty's sounds fine. Just looking for some basic breakfast food. Thanks

Some other places probably akin to Scotty's would be:
              Parisian - 7th Ave between 57 & 58 Streets
Astro - corner of 6th Ave and 55 Street
Tramway - corner of 2nd Ave and 60 Street

All are basic diner/luncheonettes with standard breakfast grub at standard diner prices.

              Astro Restaurant
              1361 6th Ave, New York, NY 10019

      2. How about dim sum? Most things in Chinatown will be open, though may be extra-busy.

Yes, insanely busy. Reservations are a must for Chinatown on Christmas day!
