Suggestions for a nice breakfast or brunch on Christmas day? Waltham/Watertown/Belmont/Cambridge ?

The only thing that comes to mind is the Westin in Waltham. It is not necessarily a great brunch but it is an extensive buffet and would probably be open because they will have guests to feed; most of the area restaurants I can think of that serve brunch only do so on Sundays and probably won't be open on Christmas anyway. You might also try some of the hotels in Cambridge; I imagine they would also be serving breakfast or brunch because of their guests. I have never been to brunch or breakfast at any of them, though, so can't suggest one in particular.

The brunch at the Waltham Westin is, as you note, extensive but just ok. The last time I went it was $25/person, but that was at least several years ago.

I'd suspect Henrietta's would be open at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, which, which also expensive, would be much better.

I thought of Henrietta's later and agree with you -- that may be a better choice and will probably be open as well. I haven't been there for breakfast/brunch (I suspect they won't be serving their big Sunday brunch, but they do serve breakfast every day) but it wouldn't take a whole lot to beat the Westin. :)
