Ultra-low budget in northwest RI/northeast CT/south central MA

My wife and I are pretty broke, but we do well with groceries. We usually eat a lot (we're fat) for $2 to $5 each. Still, we'd like to eat out occasionally.

We try to find pizza deals. For example, buy one get one free coupons for large pizzas at Palmieri Pizza in Putnam. We'd eat one pizza and the other would make great leftovers. It was very good, and priced competitively with cooking our own groceries.

Lately all I can find is is the $5 large pizza at Serio's Pizzarama in Pascoag RI. It's got a thick fluffy crust that might be ok under some sauce and cheese, but there is very little sauce and cheese on it.

Where can we go to get stuffed for a measly few bucks near Chepachet RI (home) or Leicester MA (work)? Pizza, burgers, pasta, buffets, tacos, sandwiches, etc. No fish/seafood/etc (allergic, and yuck). Takeout preferred (drinks are cheaper at home, and then there's the issue of tips).

I think you cant find it because it doesnt exist. A large pizza costs approx $1.50 (ingredients only) and if a place sells it for $5 they are either desperate for business or cutting corners somewhere "but there is very little sauce and cheese on it."

My advice is to find some ethnic restaurants if any exist in your area. I can eat 2 meals off a $5 plate from some of my favorite local hispanic restaurants. Just remember you get what you pay for so buyer beware!
