Friday Happy Hour?

I'm getting a new group of folks together for a regular Friday Happy Hour, and am having a hell of a time finding a pub that actually HAS Happy Hour on Fridays. Is that just the nature of Vancouver, or can you recommend a good spot for me?

We'll be there in the early evening, and may have unpredictable attendance. We'll want to talk to each other and circulate, and would love some drink specials.

Wow - really!?!?!? I knew Vancouver had draconian liquor laws, but that takes the cake. Thanks for the info. :)

legally the liquor board does not allow restaurants to discount alcohol unless it is an all day special. Cardero's and Sandbar do a mussels and pints feature everyday mon-fri for 10 bucks!

The traditional "Happy Hour" of discounted drinks is technically not allowed here. You may find a place that discounts the food though. I don't really know where to recommend for this though as Friday evenings are a busy at most drinks-forward places.

i believe they are not allowed to promote or advertise it, unless it comes with food purchase. but most places have 'specials' or features on the tent card or written on the board.
u r right there isnt much of a happy hour culture here. maybe try the three lions on broadway. the alibi has a good selection of beers but perhaps not the atmosphere u r looking for.
