Where to Eat in New Haven or Fairfield Counties on New Years Eve?

My wife is 6 months pregnant and I wanted to take her out for a nice romantic dinner on New Years Eve? We live in Milford so we can cover New haven down to Stamford....Anyone have any recommendations?

Well, I'm not sure that you're going to find anyplace nice and quiet..New Year's Eve is usually packed in every kind of restaurant. But - I can recommend both Beach House in Milford (I believe there is a singer there that night), or Ola's in Orange. I love Ola's, and you may be able to procure a quiet table for two (depending upon what time you want to go eat). PLUS the food is amazing!

Thanks for the suggestions....definitely agree with the beach house, we have been the before and it's really good....Really OLa's...never would have thought?! Is that right on the post road? Any recommendations in New Haven?

Yep - Ola's is in the small strip mall next to TGIFriday's in Orange - but trust me, you'll never know you're on the Post Rd. It's like walking into another world. And if you go, park down around the back - most of the seating is now downstairs (though they may open the upstairs on New Year's Eve). Bistro Basque and Johnny Ray's in good old Milford are also highly recommended.

New Haven? Hmm..not much that makes me want to make the drive. Depends on your preference. If you want to go truly upscale and romantic, Union League Cafe is a can't miss. Carmen Anthony's is good steak. Otherwise, I really wouldn't recommend subjecting yourself to the traffic that'll be on the road that night (because don't forget, for many folks it's just another busy Friday night), plus the added nightmare of the Long Wharf and Q Bridge traffic. I'd try to stay close to home, where you'll get food that's every bit as good as if you travelled far.

        P.S.
In Stratford, Assaggio's (at the Dock) and Rivienova's (downtown on Main St) have very good Italian and nice atmospheres. I won't kid you - it's not the best Italian I've ever had, but both are quite good.
