Dinner suggestion on a rainy Sat. night (Silver Lake / Downtown / Hollywood)
Any suggestions? Any type of food except Chinese is welcome. Would like to stay in a mid-upper mid range (not expense account money this time) Would like to stay away from Hollywood Blvd area.
Some place warm and cozy since the weather is going to be bad is a plus. Easy parking (or valet) is always nice on a night with weather.
Thanks
little doms, canele, or my new favorite restaurant of the moment... lazy ox. if they still have it as a special get the oxtail pot pie. one of the best dishes that i've had all year. perfect for a rainy day.

Oh how I love the Lazy Ox...Thanks for the Little Dom's suggestion. I forget about that place and really like it.
Never been a big fan of Canele but I know I am in the minority.

Another potential suspect would be Barbrix.

My suggestion as well, and sit in the bar area only for the warmth effect. Their dining room is more cavernous. Good soup, good steak or chops, decent wines although byo is truly the preference for me.
Blairs I like a lot, but right now with the construction on Rowena taking away some of the minimal available parking, it might be a bit dicey for a rainy night.
Barbrix has valet if you don't want the congestion of downtown.

Maybe Blair's?

You're not specific about ambiance, or party size, but I'd add
Aroma on Sunset at Silverlake or
Cappricio on Vermont (Italian), Clif's Edge on Sunset.
I love Marouch, (Lebanese, on Santa Monica) as does the Chow-spouse,(aka The Woman in The Hat) though it may be LESS atmospheric than you'd like, though on Saturday, there'll almost certainly be someone's birthday party going on.
There are those (including the WITH) who think the Tam'OShanter on Los Feliz is charmingly cozy, but I think the food's REALLY boring.
Barbrix seems like it'd be chilly.
Jitlada could certainly warm you up.
I'd even consider a detour to Eagle Rock for Cafe Beaujolais (French)

I wish we had gone to Marouch! I forgot how much I like that place. We went to El Caserio and I will report about it in a separate post. Bottom line, won't be going back.

This weather is perfect for the excellent quality shabu shabu at KaGaYa in Little Tokyo. Parking available in their parking lot!
