HELP! Parchment paper stuck to bagels!
My bagels looked beautiful coming out of the oven, but they are horribly stuck to the parchment paper! I oiled the paper, but apparently not enough. Is there a trick to getting the paper off or do I just have to cut the bottom of the bagel? :(
try spritzing the paper lightly with water, that should help loosen it. if the bagels pick up any of the moisture, just stick them back in the oven (no parchment this time!) for a minute or two.
is there *any* chance you accidentally used waxed paper instead of parchment? i only ask because parchment typically only sticks to things with a high sugar content - sometimes a little of the sugar can caramelize and stick to the paper.
No, it's parchment paper (believe me, I've made the wax mistake before). The bagels have various toppings, some of which are sugary, but even the non-sugary ones (I made four different kinds) are completey stuck on. I'm scared to spritz it with water because I can't see how that will get under the loosen it, won't it just = soggy bagel? Do you mean spritz on the UNDERSIDE of the paper?
