Peanut Butter - Calgary
Hello,
Long time follower, first time poster. I've found the resources on this board to be quite fantastic. So I'm wondering if anyone has stumbled across Peanut Butter &Co brand peanut butter in the Calgary area? I found it in Victoria BC, and have fallen in love! The company sent me a rather non-specific list of retailers that so far hasn't been much help.
Thanks!

Although this post is primarily looking for the elusive Peanut Butter & Co. product, I thought I would weigh in on a peanut butter find I came across. I work close to Last Chance a Liquidation World-type store that is on Barlow. Anyways, they always seem to bring in some products that are not carried in Canadian stores. In their grocery section and last week I stumbled across Peter Pan "crunchy" peanut butter. I have only seen this brand in the States so I was happy to come across it. Wow... it is a good peanut butter! At $2.99 a jar, I stocked up. It is loaded with roasted peanuts. According to the latest Cook's Illustrated, they gave Peter Pan a "recommended" in their review of peanut butters on the market.
On a side note... I also came across two Duncan Hines boxed cake mixes that I have never seen on the local grocery shelves... Red Velet and Pinapple Supreme.

Yeah they said Sobeys and Co-Op but I had no luck at the Strathcona Sobeys either. The search continues!

They have a Facebook group so I posed the question about where to buy in Calgary. I mentioned that I scoured the Co Op on Richmond Road and could not find it. Hopefully I can pass on some good news when the get back to me.

re: Doc1200
I've tried the Hamptons Co-Op and Coventry Sobeys (the PB and import/ethnic and snack aisles). Nada.
I called PB & Co. and they were particularly kind providing a list which included Planet Organic (who confirms the no longer carry it), as well as Calgary Co-Op and Sobeys. They asked me to call back if I couldn't locate any. I thought I would continue my search before doing so.

GOOD NEWS!!! I am so excited to have returned this evening (May 31) from Sunterra in Westhills and can happily report that they have four (4) varieties of Peanut Butter & Co. Yes, four! Amazingly, you can find the goods along with all the other peanut butters (second shelf from the bottom), and they are carrying White Chocolate Wonderful, The Heat is On, The Bee's Knees, and Dark Chocolate Dreams.
I opened my jar of The Bee's Knees on the way home ... is that wrong?

Hi!
I realize this is rather late for a question posed in December, however I wanted you to know that you can get PB&Co at SOBEYS! I've gotten it at a few locations (it's in the specialty/IMPORT, ethnic isles). I know i have seen it at a few other stores, but can't think of which ones right now! As for the Sobey's, I have bought it at the Millrise store, and the Sunridge store (the one beside the London Drugs and Peter Lougheed Hospital). I recommend going to some smaller food stores (Island food market in Eauclaire). If they don't have it, they can order it! Of course you can always order it online as well!
Hope you found it!

re: Barbarams
Thanks for the tip Barbarams! I called PB&Co and they suggested Calgary Co-op as a source but I've had no luck thus far. I will get over to Sobeys in the NE quickly. I would have never thought to look in the Ethnic aisle (good spotting)! BTW, PB&Co on their web-site says they ship within the US only (so sad).

re: Sneaky
Hi!
They do have it! It is in the isle with the crazy hot sauces. i can't remember which exact isle it was, but i remember when I first saw it- I was so happy! Imported foods or something like that. I will try to go check this weekend, but I can guarantee that I buy it there and have seen it at more than one sobeys location. IT IS NOT WITH THE normal PEANUT BUTTERS ETC.
As for coop, they are redoing their isles, but check for the international foods/imports etc. it won't usually be with the normal spreads! good luck-
re: Barbarams
I was there at lunch today, even stopped and looked at some of those crazy hot sauces (and bought some La Victoria Enchilada sauce from the Mexican food section while I was there, another seemingly hard to find item in YYC). Did not see any PB&Co though. I asked a girl working there who just pointed me to the peanut butter section.
I'll keep looking. I love this stuff. Now that I have tried it Kraft and Skippy just don't cut it anymore.

Almost every flavour is sold at Planet Organic (the south location, for sure). The only one i've seen in the States that I haven't seen here is Mighty Maple, oddly enough.
I don't remember seeing PB & Co at Comm Nat South.

re: CoffeeGal43
After finding PB&Co. peanut butter stateside, I can't get enough of it! Dark Chocolate Dreams and Crunch Time are fantastic. I called Planet Organic South today and they are out of stock (North location doesn't stock the brand nor does Community by Chinook), so I will keep up on it and buy ANY flavour I can get. Thank you for the lead CoffeeGal43, terrific find!

re: CoffeeGal43
Sad news ... I spoke to Planet Organic (South Calgary) today enquiring about their PB&Co supply. Their supplier/distributor has stopped carrying the brand so it will no longer be available through PO. PB&Co says Calgary Co-op carries their label, so I will try a few locations!

Thank you CoffeeGal43! I'm heading stateside for the holidays and will search out this brand. Is there a particular flavour that you've fallen for?

I've seen it at Community Natural Foods (10th Ave location). I'm not sure about the south location.
