Has anyone been here recently? I haven't found any recent reviews/posts and I wanted to go here for a special dinner. Any thoughts?

The last time I was there was a good 6 months ago or more, but I've always been very happy with the food and overall experience. To me, it's solidly enjoyable and reliable. I feel well-fed and well-treated when I leave. It can get a bit crowded on a weekend evening, so make sure you make a reservation. The menu's online if you want a preview. http://www.hudsonhousenyack.com/
And definitely order one of the desserts. They're always amazing and wonderful.

For a much more enjoyable dining experience IMHO just head 3 blocks around the corner on Broadway to Velo. Nicer environment, and better food, really creative dishes, Velo has to be one of the best New Americans on this side of the Hudson!

I second Velo. Definitely my favorite place in the area.

I have been to Velo and it is great. I did go to the Hudson House last night and I have to say it was better than I remember. Everything was delicious (I haven't had perfectly cooked scallops in ages) and service was immpeccable! Dessert was the clincher. My only complaint was that it was very noisy but, we expected this on a Saturday night. Next time we will head there on a weekend.
