Looking for a rec near the Writer's Guild (Doheny near Wilshire) for a weekday earlyish dinner, not Italian. Not Kate Mantalini. Thanks.

There's an Indian restaurant just to the south of the Writer's Guild on the same side of the street. I forget the name, but as I recall it's gotten some good comments on this board.

The Indian place is MAURYA.

Was highly thought of by the LA board's resident Indian food expert, Suvro (who hasn't posted in ages, unfortunately).

Seems a bit upscale, but sounds unique and authentic.

Perceptor's Wife took some pix awhile back, linked below.

Just mentioned the very pretty Cobra Lily in another thread; it fits your description as well. Wilshire, one block east of La Cienaga. The lomo embuchado and spicy lentils are to die for, plus they have a short and sweet wine list which has never served me wrong.

Cobra Lilly was good when I was there last year (we had tapas), but I thought I had read on the this board that they had closed recently. When were you last there?
