Have heard Iwata is quite good, as is House of Taka on Van Nuys Blvd across from Solleys, and the one in the center just east of the Sportsmen's Lodge. Never a need to travel west of the 405 for sushi, since Studio City is known as sushi city, with over 25 places to choose from, by itself, with plenty more in Sherman Oaks.
But Kiwami is a big disappointment - everything tastes the same and is quite expensive. Highly overrated.-----

Sushi Iki in Tarzana has excellent quality fish. It's mostly traditional nigiri. The sushi is very expensive, but the cuts of fish are larger than at most places.
In Woodland Hills, near Corbin, is Sushi Ichiban Kan. The chef there is the former owner of Hirosuke in Encino, but the ambience and quality is better than it was at Hirosuke. He does very good quality nigiri as well as less traditional offerings. That is my favorite sushi in the valley these days and far superior to Nozawa, imo.
