Crispy gau gee in the Bay Area?

  • 4

I'm originally from Hawaii and in all my years of living in the Bay Area, crispy gau gee is the one thing I have yet to find out here. I miss having it at family gatherings and since I won't be spending the holidays back in the islands, I am hoping to get some out here to serve with my Christmas Eve dinner. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where I can find it?

Cheers!
Lisa

  1. That wasn't something I'd heard of either, so I googled and found this recipe for crispy gau gee with a photo.

Maybe someone else will have seen them.

It looks and sounds like one of the pasteles from Smart Coffee(Brazilian) in Richmond which I'm afraid is now closed. No ground pork noted on RW abbreviated menu.

Thanks, I was wondering what they were also. Looking at the recipe, it doesn't look like it's that hard to make yourself.

i have never seen gau gee here in the bay area.
i have never seen oyster sauce chicken over cake noodle either. unfortunately.
