ISO Pre Holiday Meal, weeknight, Brooklyn

Asumnuthin Dec 15, 2010 09:59 AM

Trying to find a really tasty meal for 4 in Brooklyn, weeknight. Pre-Xmass get together with the fam. Last time we dined went to Henrys end and loved it. Looking for something similar, great food, affordable, Brooklyn, variety.
Must have great wine list, or at least good cocktails. No cash only spots. Prefer new American, farm to table...

made a small list.... anyone have any comments or suggestions to any places i might have left out of consideration?

Convivium osteria
rose water
the good fork
buttermilk channel

Was at The Good Fork for the first time a few weeks ago. Very overrated in my opinion. The food -- I had steak with kimchi -- was just meh...no comparison to Convivium in my view. I haven't been to ICI for a long time either.

Don't know where you ended up, but between Convivium and Good Fork, I prefer Convivium. Never been to ICI.

The Farm On Adderley, unless it drops out from one of your requirements, would be a good addition to your list (if you are up for going beyond the Bococa/Slope metro area)

Also, I haven't tried it yet, but Breuckelen in Cobble Hill might fit the bill.

I must say - if it were me I'd go to Henry's End again. That place has never disappointed me.

As a Henry's End regular, I can tell you that Chestnut is our other favorite place. If you go on Tues or Wed, they have a fixed price 3 course dinner for $30pp that includes anything on the menu. All homemade, including the pickles and breads and ice cream. Good cocktails and wine list. Very different atmosphere than H.End... more like a small Hearth.
