Built-In Wine Cooler/Refrigerator

lattelover Dec 15, 2010 08:31 AM

I am looking to buy a wine refrigerator to be installed in a cabinet in my kitchen. I notice that prices differ enormously - from a few hundred dollars to thousands, even when capacity is the same. Could anyone tell me why the big difference? I do know I should have an exhaust in the front. Thanks for any insight.

The pricier brands/models tend to have (but not always):

    1) more consistent temperature control
    2) humidity control to prevent the cork from drying out for long term storage
    3) dual temperature zones
    4) insulation (sound and heat)
    5) heating and cooling elements
    6) UV glass
    7) optional shelf configurations
