What to make with chicken apple sausage?
Have some thawing for dinner tonight, but no idea what to do with them. Usually I just brown them up and serve with rice or polenta, but looking for something a little more interesting...any ideas?
Yumm! How about caramelizing lots of onions and make yourself an onion marmalade with a bit of apple cider added? Or an onion gravy with caramelized onions and red wine? I too love to serve them with cheddar and onion pierogi or like bangers and mash (with the above caramelized onion idea). We often make bangers and mash with locally-produced Cumberland sausages (farmer was raised there and moved to Canada).
Sorry - forgot to add they would be lovely with roasted applesauce and perhaps broad egg noodles or spaetzle.
Brown them and serve with baked sweet potato, or roast them along with sliced/cubed sweet potato and/or other root vegetables or winter squash.
Dice and brown them, then mix with applesauce and stuffing or cooked rice to stuff halved acorn squash before baking.
I recently had colcannon, so my vote is for that. It has starch, is easy to make and easy to personalize.
