Maria's; NW corner of Inkster & Walnut Lake in West Bloomfield
has re-opened. Dunno if Artie O. is still involved.

The flyer in the mailbox mentioned a new contemporary design. I'm
kind'a curious what they've been doing for the past 18 months.

  1. Went to Maria's last night ...

We arrived at 6PM without reservations and were the 2nd customer(s). We
promptly seated at a two-top. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable and
    attentive.

A basket of warm bread w/seasoned oil arrived almost instantly, followed
by our water and drink orders.

The house salad was crisp lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and
onion served on a chilled plate.

The menu is brief, but adequately covers all the basics. The number
of specials was considerable. Dunno why they don't make some of
    the specials, standard menu items.

My wife loved her veal picata w/asparagus. Perfectly prepared. A nice
    hot dish from the kitchen.

I opt'd for zuppa di pesce. I was very happy. The base was a red clam
sauce; not overly tomato'y. It included a 4 oz piece of salmon, calamari,
clams and shrimp. It featured the seafood, not the pasta - just the way I
    like it.

The interior of the building is now lighted to a reasonable level. The
furnishings are a medium/light wood. (One of my prior dislikes, was
    the darkness.)

This is not a place for those on a budget. Dinner for two with salad
and drinks (1-wine, 2-Morettis) was $75 + tip. (No appetizers, no
dessert.). There a a few entrees on the menu under $20.

      Any dressing on that salad?

Yes. I was in a honey mustard mood. The salad also included shredded carrots.
