I haven't been yet myself but been wanting to go for ages. Now I have an even better reason to!

As always, if you refer friends with groupon using a special affiliate link (not posted here as it is against the CH rules) you can get $10 per person who buys it... so, that makes it an even better deal if you have a bunch of foodie friends who haven't bought from groupon before!

  1. It's a nice place! I hope it survives. They're contemplating selling shares to keep going, like Montforte Dairy. I am pondering chipping in, but I don't live anywhere near it, so it's quite inconvenient.

    1. Just be aware that you can't use the voucher until February 1st.

I like Culinarium and stop in there most Saturday's to get Harmony milk and also subscribe to one of their share programs. It's no secret that they are experiencing a cash flow crunch at the moment (the owner was on the CBC and in the Star yesterday being interviewed about it). If you haven't tried them and this offer will encourage you to then by all means please go for it.

You should also be aware that they are asking customers to consider a longer term discount plan similar to a farm CSA (inspired by the Monforte Cheese plan for those that are aware of that) so if you are already a regular shopper and didn't know about this you should check that out as well.

You can actually use the voucher the day after the sale is over (I think that is this Friday). Culinarium is closed for the month of January. So the voucher can either be used before January begins or after (until August 2011).

At the risk of thwarting Culinarium's Groupon efforts (and I quite like Culinarium, so I'd like to see them survive), I should note that it's probably best not to wait until February, as that's when their lease expires and they may have to close up shop if their CSA plan doesn't take off:

well the good thing is that Groupon would definitely stand behind any purchase made today and they would return your money 100% if they did decide to close up shop...

Seems kind of silly that they would close for the whole month of January. I mean, yeah, maybe they would have limited inventory to sell but they can still sell stuff. Closing down for the whole month of January means that they are likely paying rent for January with no income at all...

Anyway, thanks for the heads up about their situation. If it was a different/smaller group buy site I would be hesitant but knowing it is with groupon I already bought 1 and may buy others as gifts.

EDIT: Okay, I just read on the Groupon discussion forum section that they are open in January but with limited hours. For some reason they decided not to accept the voucher in January....
