Cuvee?

Another board has a thread saying Cuvee isn't answering their phone, that there are "kitchen problems" that will keep them closed for the time being...blah blah. Anyone have any hard news on Cuvee's status?

It WILL be interesting to see what goes in there. It seems to be both a good location, and a great venue. Our one visit was marred by some mis-steps, and the kitchen just could not quite make good. Everything that was good, was very good, but then the mis-steps kept coming. Only one trip, so it could have just been a bad night?

Hope that someone does reopen the space, and does a nice job.

Out of curiosity, what was the original board that mentioned this?

They called me today and canceled my NYE reservation. They also said that they will be closed for the duration of the Christmas holiday due to kitchen and staffing troubles.

I thought the Groupon offering was unusual.

You're right. Makes perfect sense now.

What, did they offer to refund the Groupon? We used ours back in October...

Have you seen any other high end restaurants willing to give away dinners at half price?

The only one I can think of is Bistro at Maison de Ville.

Heh, we didn't pay half price. We got $30 off our meal, which was a relatively insignificant portion of the final bill. It got us into the place, they got a pretty good amount of money out of us once we got there, and I really liked it.

I think it was a win for them!

So, yeah, we also got the Bistro at the Maison de Ville. Does that mean it's in trouble too?

Dock & Jenny's done a couple deals as well. (set a record for most Living Social Deals sold, IIRC) I dunno how that works on your theory.

                          Oh yeah, also Eiffel Society.

There are so many places here, I don't see why it's an automatic ding or death knoll for a place for providing an incentive to check out an establishment.

<shrug> but what do I know.
