Mom's Birthday Dinner

  • Share

I am looking to take my mom to a nice restaurant for her birthday in a couple of weeks. I want something nice, but not something that is going to break the bank or that I have to take out a loan for. I would prefer to avoid a buffet and she is not the biggest French food fan.

I know this is restrictive, but any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

  1. How much, per person, do you want to spend - and does that include wine?

As it is mom's birthday - what is her "favorite" food-type and/or "favorite" restaurant?

    1. Also, what night of the week, so that we can tell you of any specials that might be happening.

      1. I don't mind paying about 30/40 a person. She is not a big drinker so wine etc... is not really something she will get. Her birthday is on a Monday.

...not sure what to recommend at that price point. Probably need to get off the strip. I guess Otto could be nice at that price (and they have restaurant.com gift certificates on the cheap.)

        2. Since I only visit every few months and tend to go to the same (more expensive) spots, I only have one rec. In November, before LOVE at the Mirage, we had a very nice dinner at Kokomo's. Comfy booth, nice room, good service and their prix fixe dinner was $39. It certainly wasn't cutting edge dining, but it doesn't sound like you want that anyway. We really enjoyed it, at that price especially.

But just wandering around, I see many of the nicer places, usually before 7ish that offer great deals advertised with a placard out in front. I can't imagine there aren't more that locals don't know of if you want to eat on the Strip.
