Virginia Beach Dinner Recs
I will be in Virginia Beach on Thursday and Friday night, fishing for rockfish out of Rudee's Inlet on Friday. I've eaten at some of the restaurants on Atlantic Ave, and most of them were reasonably good dinners. What I would really like to try is something special, a place where the chef/staff really produce some serious flavors and dishes. Any cuisine is open for consideration. I strongly prefer a restaurant right in the area of the beach as we may be cabbing it. Can anyone assist me with this request please.

There are a couple of new restaurants in the VA Beach area that might be worth a try. We've tried the new Prime 103 Steakhouse and thought it was very good, but here are a couple of articles with some more suggestions:

Well we are driving up to VA Beach tomorrow for a couple of nights, and I was reviewing this thread from last year, when my trip was cancelled due to weather, and was reviewing the different recs and wanted to make sure that none of the recs need to be removed before I start making decisions. The recs I'm looking at are:
Baja Cantina
Mojito Cafe
Terrapin Restaurant
An Eat American Restaraunt
Pacifica

Baja Cantina on 23rd is a must!! Ernest makes the BEST blackened Mahi tacos! Mojito is good too, small and family owned. The remodel to Baja Restsurant in Sandbridge are INCREDIBLE. The food is amazing, the interior is gorgeous and Melissa runs the joint like a Swiss watch, makes a killer bloody Mary too! Also try Todd Jurich's Burger Bar on Rudee Inlet, Mike is the bar manager and is the absolute local favorite mixmaster here at the beach. Those would be my "must do" places. Hope that helps!

if you don't mind a "divey" atmosphere, Baja Cantina on 23rd and Pacific has the BEST fish tacos in town! The Costa Azul are prawns wrapped in wahoo wrapped in bacon and deep fried. They are amazing!!

Next time you are in town the best high end place to eat near the ocean front is Terrapin. Always fresh and always good but a bit pricey. Mojito Cafe is more downscale but fantastic. Just a little hole in the wall, mom and pop kind of place churning out some righteous food.

Tautogs is pretty good at the beach.
Steinhilbers for a little more upscale and a longer cab ride, but still in the city of Va. Beach.
I really like the Boardwok which is off of the road to Sandbridge. It's a fusion of Chinese-Polynesian-American food. Always fresh and good. Also in the city, but a little more of a cab ride than the oceanfront area.

Terrapin, Zoes, La Dolce Vita, Il Giardino.
Though I haven't tried them, I heard Eat Bistro and Pacifica are also good.-----
