condensed milk for ice cream???
I saw a recipe for ice cream somewhere in these boards (can't find again, but I think it was pumpkin) and it used sweetened condensed milk. Weird!
Has anyone tried this? I am absolutely fine with using cream, but SCM is a pantry staple for us and so may come in handy when I just get that urge to make something like that.

I did make a pumpkin gelato with SCM and mentioned it here:

considering how ridiculously easy this recipe is, the results are amazingly good. made it for thanksgiving. thinking about adding some almond extract and chopped cherries, come summer.
Condensed Milk Ice Cream
2 cups cold heavy cream
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 (14-ounce) can cold sweetened condensed milk.
pinch salt
1. In a mixer, whip heavy cream just until it begins to thicken. Add vanilla and salt, whip until soft peaks form. With mixer running, slowly pour in condensed milk and whip until high peaks form.
2. Transfer into a container or bowl for freezing. Freeze at least 4 hours or overnight. -
