J.G. Melon or another better burger?
I will be in the city for one day this Wednesday and want a great burger. I moved out of the city 5 years ago so am pretty much completely out of the loop in regards to the burger scene. Before I moved my two favorite burgers in the city were Burger Joint #1 and Peter Luger #2. I'm looking to try a burger that will be just as good or possibly better. I have tried Shake Shack and it didn't really do anything for me. I like to order my burger with just american cheese and ketchup on it. I don't like to get anything else on it the first time I try it.
I was thinking I would try J.G. Melon is this a good choice? Also does anyone have any recs that might be better for the kind of burger I'm looking for? I'm open to anything as long I can order it with American cheese and ketchup. Im really hoping to have a great burger any help would be appreciated.
Thanks all.

Minetta Tavern's burger seems to be everyone's darling these days, persico.
A more extensive résumé can be found here, although it's all of six months old!

[FWIW, my own favourite is the one produced by P.J.Clarke at its Third Ave. space.]-----

re: persico82
I don't know about the cheese selection at Minetta, although I'd be surprised if they didn't serve it. Others will surely chime in.
As has been said elsewhere, when it comes to burgers, YMMV. I had one at Clarke's the week before last and it was very good. I thought of it in your case since the one they serve there is such an everyman piece of food.
