Any local ice cream parlors?

Recently I was asked about where to get good ice cream in the Jackson area, and couldn't name one place that isn't a chain or makes their own. Brent's Drugs is the closest answer I could come up with, being an old fashioned soda fountain kind of place.

Are there any local places churning their own ice cream?

Donna's Fruit Stand....South of Florence makes their own ice cream. It's served in a "Specialty foods"/ gift shop attached to the building...When I've been up that way, I've stopped in a few times...Not an Ice Cream Parlor, but darn good ice cream.

There used to be an ice cream parlor in DeVille Plaza. It was Swensen's for forever, but I'm sure it changed names. Not sure if it is still open but it definitely had the ice cream parlor feel. Sal and Mookie's has a large ice cream selection but does not have the old timey feel.

If you are ever in New Orleans, be sure and go to Angelo Brocato's for a real old time experience.

Hmm, sounds like if anyone is up for a small business, this might fill a niche. :)

I've been to Angelo Brocato's and loved it! The gelato and cookie I had were both great.
