Recs for Dining at 9pm?

My husband and I have a cocktail party tomorrow night from 6:30 - 8:30. We plan on going to a late dinner afterwards, but usually dine earlier around 7:30 - 8 pm. Our party is in Oceanport, we'll go to Long Branch, Atlantic Highlands, Rumson, Fair Haven, Red Bank, etc. Do all restaurants welcome diners at this time? I feel like such a dweeb even asking this but please remember I have four children under 8 so my late nights are currently few and far between. Any type of cuisine will do, nothing too fancy, but not Five Guys, either. Thanks!

I know I have eaten at Fromogerie in Rumson after 9 pm on a Sat. night and it was really good. Of course, this was 2 years ago.

Also, Red comes to mind in Red Bank, but not sure.

    Have fun!!

There aren't a lot of good places that still serve after 9:00. We actually went to Angelica's in Sea Bright last night at 9:00. (with a reservation). Place was packed and continued to get new tables in until around 10:00. This would be an excellent BYO choice for you.

Yes, we actually own the ice cream store 2 doors down from Angelica's, and thus eat there quite frequently! We were hoping to switch it up a bit, but it is quite good. Thanks for the tips.

Then you probably know Bay Avenue Trattoria as well. Another excellent thought for tonight.

A place with a bar should be able to accomodate you late. I like dining late because the place isn't so rushed, the staff is more relaxed, and you get better attention. A place without a bar, you get there too late and they are already counting out the cash drawer and mopping the floor -- and they get pissed that you holding them up! I've even had the owner give me attitude, like as if he'd rather go home than have to wait a minute longer.
