A visit from the Madre

My mom is coming in town to help me move to Portland (!!!) and I want to take her to some awesome restaurants, as well as some final hoorah meals in before the big move. She has been here before and we have done the whole promenade shin dig before so I wanna kinda mix it up. We are going to Pizzeria Mozza on Thursday but we need some places for weds and friday. I was thinking Father's Office (Culver City) for Weds but do you have an other suggestions. Both of us aren't super fancy people so a little more causal may be a good idea, but delicious non the less.

Thanks!

I would suggest Gjelina, Animal, and/or the Lazy Ox Canteen.

Can you get anything like Park's BBQ in Portland? If not this is a real must try Korean treat.

Do they still have a nice restaurant at the Benson Hotel? Do they still have a Benson? As for here, I'd skip Madre's and go to Hungry Cat and Jitlada. Or she might like the patio at Lucques.

The reference to Madre's in Pasadena appeared in the OP's post due to the CH auto linking feature. t also appears whenever you mention Sierra Madre.

The restaurant itself closed in 2008.

Hmmm... I don't know the food scene in Portland, other than it is quite admirable has has improved over the past few years. The usual Chow approach is to capitalize on our areas' relative strengths; eg, ethnic food not well-represented in Portland, maybe even fair-weather venues like along the coast or outdoor dining?
