Keg Gift Giving
Hi,
I live out of state and would like to purchase a gift certificate/card for a friend who lives in the Bay Area.
He enjoys draft beer and has a tap on his home bar.
Any suggestions on a store that sells keg beer?
Tried BevMo but no dice, apparently they've had a lot of scammers lately...
Advice/suggestions would be appreciated!

What city does he live in, that makes a difference since he'll likely have to haul it. Also what kind of beer does he like? In SF and Oakland/Berkeley there's options that aren't necessarily mainstream. I'd try the City Beer Store. Don't know if they do GC but you can ask or set up a tab.

Why don't you ask his significant other where he buys kegs? When I've bought kegs at BevMo, they have done a pretty careful job recording my ID in conjunction with some tags on the keg; I think there are tight regulations so that if minors get access to the keg they can hold someone responsible. If that's the "scammer" problem you encountered, then anyone selling a keg should be doing the same thing.
How about an old-fashioned gift certificate of a card, a note saying he should spend it on beer, and some cash?
