Hell's Kitchen four chefs compete -- spoilers! Donkeys! Fusion!

Firegoat Dec 9, 2010 03:23 AM

Things I've learned about watching this season of HK. Don't "friend" contestants on FB and read their feeds. Everything was totally predicted. I already know who the winner is.

That said, I thought Jillian put up a good fight. I didn't realize it until it was mentioned when she left, that she was never put up for an elimination. Still, I love the show and still watch it. I'm sick that way.

Which of this collection would you have any desire to be "friends" with?

Well Vinny, ofc. I can get hair tips.

Ok, I am still watching too. I can't believe he put Nona in the finals as opposed to Jillian. Nona kept making excuses for herself all season. Jillian definitely has the farthest thing from a sophisticated palate but she seems to have more talent and abilities than Nona. Ryan was an obvious choice, but he's a cocky ass so I'm rooting for Nona. I can't believe we are the only two watching this...:)

I'm still watching too! But how close are you watching -- "Ryan" is actually Russell! 8<P He is such a tool. Agree that Jillian should have made it over Nona, but I'm still rooting for Nona over Russell.

hahaha, see what I mean?!! Ryan, Russell, you say tomato....Tool is his name from now on! And wow, what an incompetent gang of contestants this time around...I'm thinking the $250k is just the grand prize and the chef position at LA Market is just a sous or something. because how can they rightfully put one of these as head chef?

Piping in here, even though I've only watched a bit of one episode this season.

The winner is *never* a "head chef" at any restaurant of Ramsay's or wherever they get placed. That statement is for show, IMO. None of them have ever had the ability to be an EC at a large(r) establishment such as the restaurants spoken about as part of the prize. They might be running smaller kitchens, like Jason from last season, but still not sure any are capable of running a large kitchen.

And hello to Firegoat. I successfully resisted watching. :-) But I'm having a ball now that Top Chef is back on the tube. :-)

BTW, loved your subject line. :-D

I see our beloved blue jay from last season is doing an event with Gordon tonight. Despite coming in second, he's really been building up a bunch of celebrity appearances.

speaking of your headline here--the best was when Jillian's son, I believe, asked "did he call you a donkey?" hahahahhaha

Agreed. I like that Jillian's kids seem to have a good understanding of the show and what she's doing.

He's ALL about the celebrity. Has said many times that's the main reason he went on the show.

And he said on his HK FB page he was in Orlando but he doesn't smoke? Really. If so, that's a relatively recent change.

apparently from the FB posts on the current HK contestants' pages, the nickname for Russell is Russhole. My money is on him for the win, even tho I'd much prefer Nona.

Well, they had a female winner last year. So gotta switch back to a male winner this season. Nothing if not predictable. :-) (Except between HK5 and 6, it's always gone back and forth that way).

I am pretty sure it is a Russ win as well judging from some of the comments on the FB pages. I was really hoping they'd do a female vs female finale since I don't think they've done that before.

Season 2's finale pitted two females (Heather and Virginia) against each other.

Soooo, Russell turns out to be as big of a d-bag/thug as Trev has been telling us. And now he's going to blackball his finale teammates because "they" caused him to lose.

"Hi, this is sous chef Russell. You know, the guy who almost won the worst season of Hell's Kitchen? Yeah, yeah, that guy. Anyway, I heard Vinny has applied for a job at your establishment, and I wanted to make sure you don't hire him because he is a complete...Hello? Hello?

                      Congrats to Nona!

I hope Russell gets blackballed himself since he is such a egotistical jerk. I think Gordon didn't pick him as the winner when he realized what a jerk Russell turned out to be. Gordon yells at the cheftestants for the ratings; Russell is no Gordon, and should never have treated his team so poorly. I'm glad Nona won.

Russell showed his true colors last night. What a douchebag. Usually the runners up at least pretend to be cordial and happy for the winner. Blaming his ineptitude on the rest of his team and threatening blackballing made Nona as the winner an even clearer choice if anyone had a doubt. And while these people are not Top Chef caliber, at least Nona does have a sophisticated palate and a nice way of working with other chefs in the kitchen. Plus, her menu sounded so much better than his. Goat cheese is so 90s. Filet ? zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

yes he came across as a real piece - blaming team mates for his final dinner service? Surely it was judged on his overall performance. He never had a nice thing to say about anyone else and my daughter figured he wouldn't be able to keep any cooks working for him.

I haven't commented much on this season, because quite frankly - what can be said. But I just couldn't resist. Am I the only one who notices that my Gordon looks like a frickin racoon, from wearing those little gogglettes while tanning? It was sooo obvious and pretty funny during the challenge - which brings me to my next pet peeve. What reason in hell (get it ? Hell's Kitchen) did he have for picking Nonna over Jillian???? Jillian was never nominated for elimination(which shows she is a team player - didn't piss anyone off enough to be nominated out of spite), won quite a few challenges- including last night's wowing the judges with her fusion creation. I don't get it at all. I predicted Nonna and Russell for the final a while back here in a post, but soon thereafter changed my vote to Jillian. If it's past experience and culinary exepertise that count - then why are these people even on the show - if from the outset they lack what they will be eventually judged on????

          Gordon - I'm not impressed.

PS: They were all pretty shitty this year- that is true- but I can't wait to hove Boris back next week. And my blonde little bitch....

I watch it too with my grown daughters, it's not as good this season, nobody has really stood out for us but maybe the format has become so predictable.

Here is link to a post elimination interview with Trevor and Jillian. It is pretty harsh.

Wow- So I guess it's not so much the editing on HK that made Trevor look like an ass. Seems he just exudes it.

He shows zero class and even less sportsmanship. What does Nonna's size or the fact that she is a mother have to do with her cooking abilities??? And Russ showing up with his "new" girlfriend??? What does his dating scorecard have to do with anything either.... oh Trev- it's called being bitter. It's not an admirable quality.

I am glad he is gone. It is too bad though that Jillian isn't one of the final 2.

Trev smoked amid the exercise equipment, which was a classy touch, I thought.

Actually i like trev, lets not forget nona was one of the females that completely stonewalled him. He shouldn't have won HK but i'm not impressed with nona either. If i'd been treated that why i would have said the same thing.
